Training Duaat for the Future

A duaat training has been established jointly with the As Salaam Educational Institute at As Salaam. This programme has been initiated as the need for skilled duaat are urgently required in various parts of South Africa. The 3 year course includes Islamic studies, Arabic, Dawah, Methodology, Vocational Skills. A Business Administration Module is being considered so that the student wil be eligible for under-graduate studies at universities in South Africa.

Currently there are 18 students in the first year of study from various parts of South Africa. The enrollment for next year is expected to be another 25 students in the first year with students from all parts of Southern Africa.

The two teachers that WAMY have employed are Sheikh Sultan from Egypt and Sheikh Umar from Commore Islands. Both teachers are highly qualified with extensive teaching experience.

Any student wishing to study at As Salaam should contact the As Salaam Educational institute or WAMY for application forms before the end of November for interviews.

First Musjid & Islamic Centre for Umlazi

"Whosoever builds a Masjid, Allah will build a house for him in Jannah" (Hadith).

Umlazi is the largest township in Kwa Zulu Natal, with an estimated population of 1.3 million people, of which there about 1500 Muslim Families. WAMY has been facilitating Dawah outreach projects in Umlazi for the past 3 years. WAMY has undertaken to address the dire need of a musjid, by establishing the first official Musjid/Islamic Centre in W Section- Umlazi. The construction of this centre was initiated in April 2004 and Alhamduliallah is 90% complete. The musjid would be in use from the beginning of Ramadaan 2005, and Taraweeh Salaah would be performed by our Hufaz from the community and would be officially opened on 20 November 2005.

Rosedale Primary Boarding School - Estcourt

WAMY in conjunction with the Estcourt Islamic (EIC) established the first Primary Boarding School in Rosedale, a rural area near Estcourt. The centre was officially launched in September 2003, but had been in operation since the beginning of 2003

In addition to the boys Primary School, there is also a Dawah Centre with boarding facilities for 60 learners. These 60 learners attend the school and are between Grade 4 - 7. There is also a pre-school which is attended by 25 children and a youth centre on the premises.

The school is registered with the Department of Education as a primary school. While the school caters for the immediate community it also caters for learners from other disadvantaged areas, hence the boarding facility.

The following facilities and programmes are envisaged for the future:-

Vocational Skills training and empowerment projects.
Agricultural training and development.
Further education and training institute specializing in Technical Skills training (Level NQF 2 - 4 level).
A Computer Centre
A library, etc.
