YOUTH HOSTELS
WAMY has many successful programmes in other countries and amongst the most successful are the Youth Hostels that can be found in Sudan and Yemen.

South Africa is particularly suited for such a programme as there are a great number of students that need to be sponsored with regards to their schooling, tertiary education as well as accommodation. Intensive Tarbiyyah Training programmes can be established and sustained over a long period of time with the students boarding at WAMY Hostels. This will ensure that the students emerge from these centres with a strong foundation in Islam.

The first pilot projects are to be initiated, by WAMY, in Fordsburg - Gauteng and Umzinto and Clare Estate in KwaZulu Natal. However facilities like these need to be established in all major centres in South Africa.

Alhamdulillah a Girls Hostel has been established in Umzinto, by WAMY, for sisters attending the Umzinto Islamic School. There are currently 9 students accommodated at the hostel, all from disadvantaged backgrounds, who previously did not have access to Islamic Education. These areas include :-
Port St Johns and Tabankulu in the Eastern Cape
Witbank in Mpumalanga
Umkababa on the KwaZulu Natal South Coast
Mahlatini and Malangeni in KwaZulu Natal

There are currently disadvantaged Muslim students from other parts of South Africa and other Southern African countries, studying at tertiary education and training institutes in South Africa, who are experiencing problems with accommodation. The education fees of some of these students are funded by WAMY, Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and the South African National Muslim Bursary Fund (SANMBUF).

This is of great concern to the Muslim Ummah and it is with this concern in mind that WAMY intends establishing separate Girls and Boys University Youth Hostels in Clare Estate as well as a Boys Hostel in Fordsburg. We are currently exploring a few possibilities for premises, of either 3 large houses or small blocks of flats and we appeal for your support in this regard.
We have just secured a premises in Clare Estate for a boys hostel for which we are seeking funding of R 350 000 to purchase and refurbish.

We also make a humble appeal to you, to please sponsor a student at the Umzinto Girls Hostel where the cost per student is R1000 per month.

By establishing and providing these facilities we will boost our dawah efforts as these students will be used to actively engage in dawah activities in universities as well as outreach programmes at all our Dawah Centres, whist at the same time pursuing their studies.
